CBS Films has pre-emptively picked up Inside the Machine, a spec thriller from Marc Maurino. Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson of Contrafilm are producing. According to CBS, Machine “follows an undercover ATF agent’s journey into the heart of the Murder Machine – a vicious cartel ruled by a criminal mastermind. As the strain on his family mounts and he finds himself increasingly seduced by the power and violence of his undercover persona, the agent must determine how far he will go to serve justice.” CBS’s vp production Mark Ross and creative executive Ryan Conroy are overseeing the project for the company. CE Alex Church brought the project into Contrafilm, which sparked to the authentic nature and realistic detail with which Maurino infused the story. It then took it to CBS. The company will seek a filmmaker for Machine in the coming weeks. Contrafilm most recently produced the supernatural thriller The Rite and has adventure movie Journey 2: The Mysterious Island due to hit screens later this year. This is the first feature for Maurino, who is repped by UTA and Circle of Confusion.
