Amy Baer is President & Chief Executive Officer of CBS Films. She has served in this position since October 2007. Since Baer joined CBS Films, the studio has put three films into production and is currently in pre-production on a fourth title which is scheduled to commence principal photography in Fall 2009.
Ms. Baer brought with her over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry. Prior to joining CBS Films, she completed a 9-year stint at Columbia Pictures where she served as Executive Vice President of Production since 1998. At Sony, Baer developed and oversaw production of an impressive roster of films including: the romantic comedy "My Best Friend’s Wedding;" "The Mask of Zorro;" the critically acclaimed "Adaptation," for which Chris Cooper won the Oscar; the Samuel L. Jackson/Colin Farrell action film "S.W.A.T.;" the Nancy Meyers comedy "Something's Gotta Give," starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, for which Keaton won a Golden Globe award; and the 2006 holiday hit "The Pursuit of Happyness," for which Will Smith received an Academy Award nomination.
During her tenure at Columbia and other Sony Pictures Entertainment companies, the movies Baer supervised grossed more than $1.8 billion in worldwide box office. Prior to joining Columbia, Baer worked at TriStar Pictures from 1992 to 1997, where she rose through the ranks to Executive Vice President of Production. Before coming to TriStar, Ms. Baer was Director of Development at Guber-Peters Entertainment Company, where she helped develop the hits "Jumanji" and "Single White Female." She began her career at CAA in 1988 as an assistant to the late Jay Moloney. Baer is an alumnus of Georgetown University where she majored in English and graduated magna cum laude in 1988. She is an active board member of Friends of the Family, an organization that provides effective mental health and human development treatment to families and children within the greater Los Angeles area. |
